Blog-iversary Giveaway!

Tomorrow is my two year blog-iversary and to celebrate, I am going to put together a set of four fat quarters from my stash for the lucky winner in whatever color (or colors) they choose!

As some of you might remember, I am getting married in October (ZOMG LESS THAN TWO MONTHS AWAY!!) and my wonderful Park Ranger Fiance needs space for his stuff, so I am going to have to cut down on the stash that I have just a little bit. My loss is your gain!

I'll put some teaser stash pictures on here once I get home from work tonight.

But for now, for one entry put what color/style of fabrics you're trying to stash!

For a second entry, followers comment with "I'm a ______ follower" and enter the color/style of fabrics you're looking for.

The contest will close at 8 PM August 23rd.

Brilliant

I've finally finished my June birthstone block and put together my April diamond birthstone block! You can find the pattern from No Hats in the House here.

Now I have to dig through my scraps some more and see what I want to do next. I still need to do:

January - garnet
March - aquamarine
May - emerald
July - ruby
August - peridot
September - sapphire
October - opal
December - blue topaz

And I've already won one giveaway from the Sew Mama Sew Giveaway Day from Cat Patches! Wooo!

Treat Yo' Self!

I was lucky enough to be chosen as one of the winners for March in the Lovely Year of Finishes!

I won a $15 gift certificate to Contemporary Cloth!

I was shocked and so excited! I decided to treat myself and get a jelly roll of Architextures, because I've been loving all of the projects that everyone else has been making with this line!

It arrived last night and it will be continuously ogled until I decide on a project for it. I might just leave it on my end table until then because it is so pretty.

(And if you don't watch Parks and Recreation, which you should, this video explains a little bit about treating yo' self.)

WIP Wednesday: Feeling Festive

Happy WIP Wednesday! This past weekend, I finished up the last of the blocks of the Harry Potter Project of Doom quilt for my sister and last night I sewed all of the blocks into rows.

Now to start searching for appropriate "bookcase" material to sash the rows together and use as borders.

I also made a batch of these mint chocolate chip cookies. They turned out delicious. And GREEN.

And if you haven't entered yet, check out my Sew Mama Sew Giveaway Day post and givewaway!

Hello everybody and welcome to my FIRST giveaway ever as a part of Sew, Mama, Sew! Giveaway Day!!

I'm Alison and I have been quilting for almost 10 years and I'm currently a full time graduate student in Chemistry -- quilting is like therapy for me! I have been blogging here at Little Bunny quilts since August 2011, and have loved "getting to know" so many of my fellow bloggers, especially my fellow scientists! So poke around and maybe you'll like what you see here or at least I'll make you laugh a little.

4. Batik Placemats 5. Nubee's Block  - July 6. Snowflake Quilt
7. Seville Quilt 8. Mystery Quilt 9. Teacup quilt

To Enter:

For one entry: Tell me about the state of your holiday decorating if you are doing any this year. I have my tree up, but it's not decorated yet!

Sew, Mama, Sew! Giveaway Day starts December 3rd and runs the whole week! Last giveaway day I won prizes from 2 different blogs! That's pretty exciting for someone who never wins contests.

The Quilting Gallery 5th Anniversary Blog Hop Party starts December 9th and runs the rest of the week.

Anyone else planning to participate? Any ideas on what to do for the giveaway? Anyone going to spend all day every day of those weeks entering all of the giveaways? I will!

Really great days

While I don't have any sewing progress to show, its been a great few days!

Friday was the first day that the sun came out since...well, I'm not sure when. Park Ranger Boyfriend came to visit this weekend and we were lazy bums all weekend. Lots of watching Community, eating everything (CRAB RAVIOLI!!!), and general shenanigans.

Saturday morning I found out that I won the $50 gift certificate to The Quilting Lodge via the giveaway at SewBittersweet Designs! I was in SHOCK! And very excited! I picked out these fabrics from the Botanica collection from Timeless Treasures (plus a little bit of the olive green marble) as my "prize":

Thank you to Vicki at The Quilting Lodge for sponsoring this giveaway!

I got the email today that I am one of the five finalists for the "Bed Quilt" category for the Blogger's Quilt Festival! I was in even more shock! So thanks to EVERYONE for voting for me during the nomination round! And now if you want to vote my quilt all the way to the top (of the bed quilt category, that is) go here and vote for your favorite in each category!

Hopefully I'll have some actual sewing progress later in the week!

Tuesday Tales

I finally finished my set of double sided napkins. I took this class all the way back in November.

I also received my second Sew Mama Sew Giveaway Day winnings from Heather at Crafting (dot dot dot) -- hooray!

I got my new issue of Quiltmaker in the mail today, so I'm going to pour over that ten thousand times tonight.

Put the Lime with the coconut.

Unless you've been kind of out of the loop, this past week was the Sew Mama Sew Giveaway Day (week). I spent all of my free time entering all of the giveaways that I could. It ended yesterday and hopefully you all are starting to hear that you won wonderful things from wonderful people!

I won this giveaway from Heather at Crafting (dot dot dot) and I am very very excited to use that giant cone of cotton thread. Thanks Heather!

I also won a lovely stack of 2.5 inch squares from Blue Crab Quilting! I can't wait to sort through all of these and see what little pieces of goodness it contains! Thanks Elizabeth!

But back to our regularly scheduled quilting updates. Yesterday (in addition to sleeping in and getting an oil change) I managed to finish up all the courthouse step blocks and get three more swirly star blocks done.

I also managed a quick trip to the quilt store and got border fabric for my shoes quilt and then a little bit of orange-y clearance fabric just for fun.

I'd also like to share that my lil' ol' blog has surpassed 10,000 views! Whoa, Nelly! My disappearing 9 patch tutorial has been shared in a number of different forums/websites and I guess people really like it! Thanks!

A little bit side-tracked

I can't believe that it is Wednesday already. I actually spent a lot of the day Sunday working on my black, green, and white quilt, and intended to post about it Monday when I got home from school. But then I had to cook dinner for Park Ranger Boyfriend who came to visit and so things got pushed back until today.

I didn't get any stitching done on the binding of my mystery quilt (rats!) but hopefully I can start on that tonight while I watch some TV.

When last I posted, I had just paired up all of the sets of three squares for the 9 patch part of my courthouse steps. They now have all of their "steps" completed, except for the last "rung" of the black for most of the blocks. Here are all 18 chillin' on my living room floor with the first set of rungs:

I had to stop because I didn't have enough black fabric to finish them entirely. Whoops. But I started on this anyways because I was so excited but I did get the rest of the black fabric in the mail today!

Here are the two courthouse steps blocks that are completely finished:

The other blocks for this quilt are swirly star blocks that you make by a (what I would describe as a) stack, cut, and swap method.  Here are the three that I have done:

Kind of wild! But I definitely like it. I also got the charm pack that I won from Marcia today in the mail! It is so pretty!

I'm linking up with Freshly Pieced to share my progress!

Accountability!

Rhonda over at Quilter in the Gap is hosting a quarter-by-quarter Finish-Along to encourage the finishing of UFOs! I missed the first quarter link-up entirely but I decided that this would be a great way for me to try to push forward and finish some projects once I get this exam over with (16 days, people!)

2012 Finish-A-Long

This is sort of in order of "closest to being finished" to "probably won't happen."

1. X-quilt
It has been machine quilted and is waiting for me up in Michigan. All it needs is binding!

2. Mystery Quilt
Again, all machine quilted and just needs binding. I'll be picking up these two quilts in May when I go up to Michigan for my sister's college graduation.

3. Snowflake quilt
Top is all done, needs quilting and binding.

4. Seville Quilt
Same thing, quilting and binding.

5. Shoes
Top needs to be finished, need to find and buy border fabric for this one.

6. Civil war quilt
Again, need to buy and find sashing and border fabric and finish putting the top together.

7. Railroad Quilt
HAND QUILTING. Seriously, I just need to take the quilt into the living room and work on it when I watch TV, instead of pinning on Pinterest.

I know that I can finish 1 and 2 before the end of June, and I think that getting 3 and 4 done is possible. Getting 5 and 6 all the way finished might be a stretch, but I will definitely get the tops done. 7 is the thorn in my side from long, long ago and I am going to get it done before the end of the summer because now that I have a queen sized bed, I can make good use of it!
