It's been a long time, and maybe you remember that I used to sew and blog quite a bit. Things have been, um, quite different.<div><br /></div><div>I'm going to go further back than necessary and say that 2020 was a year for me. I think it was a year for everyone, but being pregnant and having a baby during a pandemic was especially difficult. </div><div><br /></div><div>Despite the fact that I was at home more than ever, I sewed less than ever. I managed to do some quilting and mask making early on, but even that tapered off significantly once I moved my sewing space into the guest room and my sewing room became the nursery. (I do have two finished projects to post about, eventually.)</div><div><br /></div><div>I did have a baby boy in October, so that was my main project for the year.</div><div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjFzVVLr4GblYr2ePBiw4QSna1zYIfdFpfASTInWTJs2nhtiSt-IrakF2xqpxnmw4NLRAAw3zZ-98pt2U_-vhY0IB7f4TPzi-feDSDHKbQWZOJOm3Mb6zN_phJ0cm8ve29jcfDopmUtBhV-/s4608/original_f86db13d-483f-4b59-a69e-adcbfa94e3a5_IMG_20201015_071359119.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4608" data-original-width="3456" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjFzVVLr4GblYr2ePBiw4QSna1zYIfdFpfASTInWTJs2nhtiSt-IrakF2xqpxnmw4NLRAAw3zZ-98pt2U_-vhY0IB7f4TPzi-feDSDHKbQWZOJOm3Mb6zN_phJ0cm8ve29jcfDopmUtBhV-/w300-h400/original_f86db13d-483f-4b59-a69e-adcbfa94e3a5_IMG_20201015_071359119.jpg" width="300" /></a></div><br /><div>And since then, everything has been a blur. There were supposedly a bunch of holidays that have already come and gone. My idea that I could sew while the baby napped was a farce. My sweet grandmother passed away due to coronavirus complications without meeting my son. A flurry of family came to visit. My son is already three months old and doing all sorts of things that make me wish for time to slow down. I'm back to work (part time on site, part time work from home) and figuring out being a working mom. </div><div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiCtO-m1OD6fN9ZxaFvBf8c4R_bCR9aQscZoQOxiGCqeWKkK36uqf5622M7s1t5OedBFpCh7cFPzQXZh8pradP3X1bUf3naPlpFMItaTzwdQXgskgBCatPDckhDxzOzZi7v46lKLZOr9PzE/s2592/IMG_20201225_152931697_BURST001.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2592" data-original-width="1944" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiCtO-m1OD6fN9ZxaFvBf8c4R_bCR9aQscZoQOxiGCqeWKkK36uqf5622M7s1t5OedBFpCh7cFPzQXZh8pradP3X1bUf3naPlpFMItaTzwdQXgskgBCatPDckhDxzOzZi7v46lKLZOr9PzE/w300-h400/IMG_20201225_152931697_BURST001.jpg" width="300" /></a></div><div><br /></div><div>I'm not sure what's next but I still have all of those same unfinished projects hanging around, so maybe I should finally just work on those if I can ever figure out how to find time to sew again.</div>Alison V.http://www.blogger.com/profile/01083271975458964740noreply@blogger.com17tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-573022001485473640.post-46319591783698384372020-09-25T09:00:00.001-04:002020-09-25T09:00:04.661-04:00Jingle Bell Square {Blocks Are Done!}I have finished up all of my Jingle Bell Square blocks! I needed to make 6 additional green blocks and 4 additional red blocks to bring me to the 49 total blocks that I needed for the quilt.<div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEifR03Kog1qN8_YRKqQjg000khfrIT0Hbx9qL7AEjMJI-TeRHuRv9tsJB3UgLCx7C-Ckt8C2OdAlWkLL-95gLCo7BAZN-CKdYSq_Kpq-IYmq-mYb50MtCnxHwIlU4JhkZdm4OLisZ3HGLT9/s4208/IMG_20200923_142144301.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3213" data-original-width="4208" height="305" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEifR03Kog1qN8_YRKqQjg000khfrIT0Hbx9qL7AEjMJI-TeRHuRv9tsJB3UgLCx7C-Ckt8C2OdAlWkLL-95gLCo7BAZN-CKdYSq_Kpq-IYmq-mYb50MtCnxHwIlU4JhkZdm4OLisZ3HGLT9/w400-h305/IMG_20200923_142144301.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><br /><div>My next task is getting fabric to sash the blocks. I had bought some fabric on clearance online when I was ordering other fabric and unfortunately it is NOT going to work -- it is too large scale of a print and takes away from the blocks. I will definitely need something smaller in scale and with less color contrast.</div><div><br /></div><div>So for now, this project is back on the shelf, but ready to go whenever I get sashing fabric. I have all or nearly all of the QSTs for the pieced borders made (they are the same as the QSTs in the center of each block!) so that won't be a delay in finishing the quilt top. </div><div><br /></div><div>I'm also thinking about replacing one of the skinny scrappy borders with a single fabric border since I have some larger pieces of Christmas fabrics left over from some quilt backs that might be big enough to use for some of the borders and binding on this quilt. </div><div><br /></div><div>Have you started on any holiday sewing? Or are you like me and have random Christmas projects going all the time?</div>Alison V.http://www.blogger.com/profile/01083271975458964740noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-573022001485473640.post-13463168840267756962020-09-23T08:30:00.001-04:002020-09-23T08:30:08.794-04:00Mosaic Mystery Quilt {Quilt Top}<p>It's been a LONG time since I posted about this project -- last year in fact! The construction directions were released in January, I printed them out, and only now finally managed to finish the quilt top. </p><p>Because my burgundy fabrics were cut from three different fabrics and not from one fabric, I arranged the units so that a single fabric was used for an entire star. I ended up needing to make a few extra units as I put the rows together, but I had plenty of extra fabric. I didn't end up doing that with the pink fabrics and placed them randomly throughout the quilt top.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjICXTqKUtL7xk_QQxDUdkUfCdTmRii0jtyQlUcjxpYb_8JGYh_6bDpi8iIa8wfq4jm8PdakgJurssdo914Ewr8Cy1jWmhbH-bcLHbCT37t8ENPHUckPX3w-iYpPbXwBvMCaoOX-1kmsIWO/s3911/IMG_20200918_150007674_HDR.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3287" data-original-width="3911" height="336" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjICXTqKUtL7xk_QQxDUdkUfCdTmRii0jtyQlUcjxpYb_8JGYh_6bDpi8iIa8wfq4jm8PdakgJurssdo914Ewr8Cy1jWmhbH-bcLHbCT37t8ENPHUckPX3w-iYpPbXwBvMCaoOX-1kmsIWO/w400-h336/IMG_20200918_150007674_HDR.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh3EA7ahffdAXg8WPkrFH5mAmsdtXabc73z37ow-MH1bDCZGZUvtaZYkBwQaPAPndXYu1WrsFs-RQG2oVkxDVHKUWSZJ04zWpiW2_F7Z02xrEY0qlE5yG9G5BwHElxFB6BFq3RymAKHHHvY/s3456/IMG_20200918_150014976.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3456" data-original-width="3456" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh3EA7ahffdAXg8WPkrFH5mAmsdtXabc73z37ow-MH1bDCZGZUvtaZYkBwQaPAPndXYu1WrsFs-RQG2oVkxDVHKUWSZJ04zWpiW2_F7Z02xrEY0qlE5yG9G5BwHElxFB6BFq3RymAKHHHvY/w400-h400/IMG_20200918_150014976.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><p>Going through my old blog posts, it looks like my original plan was to cut the additional pink fat quarters that I have (in the same fabrics I used in the quilt) into strips to make a scrappy, chunky border. I'm not sure if I want to do this or not but I don't have anything else left from this kit that would be enough yardage for a border. (I do, however, have another burgundy fabric that will work for the binding.) So this week I'll be deciding on that. It is probably big enough as is, but I might as well use the rest of those fat quarters.</p><p>What do you think? What have you been sewing this week?</p>Alison V.http://www.blogger.com/profile/01083271975458964740noreply@blogger.com7tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-573022001485473640.post-46555244642150887662020-09-21T09:50:00.002-04:002020-09-21T09:50:20.814-04:00Bag Lady {Two More Finished Open Wide Bags}<p>Since I had enough notions -- with the exception of zippers -- to make a few more Open Wide bags, I bought a few more zippers and got to work.</p><p>The first one that I made is the same three fabrics as the large pouch that I made in the original set, just in the smallest size. I still have six sets of finished flying geese units for another six star blocks, and then I'll make another batch of six chain blocks. Since I last posted about this project, I did cut up some additional 2.5" squares for my four patches and the corners of the chain blocks to add some additional color variety. </div><div><br /></div><div>That would put me at 56 total blocks, able to be alternated in a 7x8 grid, for a quilt (pre-borders) that would be approximately 56" x 64", which would be a nice sized throw. But, I think if I can find another blue/aqua fabric or two to cut into more flying geese units, I'd like to see the quilt grow closer to twin sized, since I still have a lot of this fabric line left. I might skip the green fabrics all together just for the sake of contrast, but that's still to be determined.</div><div><br /></div><div>What are you sewing this week?</div>Alison V.http://www.blogger.com/profile/01083271975458964740noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-573022001485473640.post-30584164325118976712020-07-29T10:30:00.000-04:002020-07-29T13:57:58.656-04:00Meet the Chefs! {Best of Moda Bake Shop Book Hop}Today is my day to shout from the rooftops all about myself and my quilt that's featured in the Best of Moda Bake Shop book!<div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgVHDFC7sfhQ6NIcisYzovCNPZA226va7tcBjxVLDsBiPKgsCwF0NvHpgLAOS7ZlGVmUBUdk2ZubGNw2_zmh_DW3LLeWSP4mKntloaRby-c0ZTY2YPELAOhCr6czY3nTD4m4kcC6k-_FuRd/s500/Best-of-MBS-Profiles-AVermilya-2.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="500" data-original-width="500" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgVHDFC7sfhQ6NIcisYzovCNPZA226va7tcBjxVLDsBiPKgsCwF0NvHpgLAOS7ZlGVmUBUdk2ZubGNw2_zmh_DW3LLeWSP4mKntloaRby-c0ZTY2YPELAOhCr6czY3nTD4m4kcC6k-_FuRd/s320/Best-of-MBS-Profiles-AVermilya-2.jpg" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi9ZV3FT6e-RFJyYVKtlzwr9ulax6W5CEDLIC8uIkv8_k1wO-971tVduBNDptyhS8kEQWKdmkuAivuvfAvv9eLfY8QDvoKMdf3Tv_NhcEaUUPF_IMVR-sO2wqdXU6NhUBhQwx4nsbTwS2vT/s1299/FrontCover_ModaBakeShop_WEB.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1299" data-original-width="1000" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi9ZV3FT6e-RFJyYVKtlzwr9ulax6W5CEDLIC8uIkv8_k1wO-971tVduBNDptyhS8kEQWKdmkuAivuvfAvv9eLfY8QDvoKMdf3Tv_NhcEaUUPF_IMVR-sO2wqdXU6NhUBhQwx4nsbTwS2vT/s320/FrontCover_ModaBakeShop_WEB.jpg" /></a></div><div><br /></div><div>For the book, I made a new version of the Garden Plots quilt pattern that was originally published on Moda Bake Shop in 2018. It's mostly translated into sleeping more and loading and unloading the dishwasher more. And we may or may not have made it through the entire Marvel movie series in that time. <div><br /></div><div>The goals in my sewing room have been two-fold since the beginning of the year: finish up WIPs and clear out scraps. The finishing up WIPs part has been wholly unsuccessful. The clearing out scraps part has actually gone relatively well. I haven't made any lately, but early on in quarantine, I made oodles of <a href="https://littlebunnyquilts.blogspot.com/2020/04/rainbow-snippet-blocks-scrap-busting.html">my Rainbow Snippet blocks</a>. </div><div><br /></div><div>I haven't really posted about it but I have actually been making masks. I've made four "batches" -- the first batch was for us, a few of my husband's coworkers, and some friends, the second was a batch for our church when they reopened for socially distanced services, and the third and fourth batches have been for my work. I've used the <a href="https://sarahmaker.com/how-to-sew-a-surgical-face-mask-for-hospitals-free-pattern/">Sarah Maker tutorial </a>with ties for all of them, but usually I make my ties slightly shorter.</div><div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgEStwScaS_51nfKzZNN6Ga7CANjjcJV6CuIcai7qnzGuiq1AbMh_X9kaGrbVWq_hjHGIHJdUc-46H50WT7oE2Yh9-CMmfRGO_sRQZaQwHLMRjE_B7ihrbhxTqtI1PyVLooZKzXFinyH_ws/s3456/IMG_20200715_081347029.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3456" data-original-width="3456" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgEStwScaS_51nfKzZNN6Ga7CANjjcJV6CuIcai7qnzGuiq1AbMh_X9kaGrbVWq_hjHGIHJdUc-46H50WT7oE2Yh9-CMmfRGO_sRQZaQwHLMRjE_B7ihrbhxTqtI1PyVLooZKzXFinyH_ws/w400-h400/IMG_20200715_081347029.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><div><br /></div><div>This has been a great medium-to-large scrap buster. I've pulled the majority of my fabrics from my "larger cuts" scrap bin and just tried to maximize what I can get out of the scraps.</div><div><br /></div><div>I also started a new scrappy project using some Island Batik fabrics and my Accuquilt cutter. I still had most of the scraps left from my <a href="https://littlebunnyquilts.blogspot.com/2019/11/hip-to-be-square-times-two-piece-of.html">Hip to Be Square quilts</a> from the Little Sir, Little Miss line (other than the pink and purples I pulled out to make my <a href="https://littlebunnyquilts.blogspot.com/2020/03/hatties-choice-finished-one-die-wonder.html">Hattie's Choice quilt</a> a few months ago) and combined that with the black solid Island Batik fabric I had on hand for the background. The inspiration for my quilt is this pattern that is featured in the Accuquilt book that came with my starter set last year:</div><div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhMUrL9J3RgnQGx-ebLRxHHtj9LnTAxzXHJSBILDnuYLRJw8VhOpE_WFgH9tM9tdR0pcH1TZoefrP-D7axHWeBkrgU8shCMmiBxKxGYOJt3X-Z38VUQb1AnWSIDon79MGnl7O3YfMoOjCDx/s4608/IMG_20200715_073005494.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4608" data-original-width="3456" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhMUrL9J3RgnQGx-ebLRxHHtj9LnTAxzXHJSBILDnuYLRJw8VhOpE_WFgH9tM9tdR0pcH1TZoefrP-D7axHWeBkrgU8shCMmiBxKxGYOJt3X-Z38VUQb1AnWSIDon79MGnl7O3YfMoOjCDx/w300-h400/IMG_20200715_073005494.jpg" width="300" /></a></div><div><br /></div><div>I'm not sure if I will do the borders as the pattern shows, but for now, I cut all of my blue and teal scraps into pieces and parts for flying geese for the star points and the rest of the colors (other than the green, which I am reserving for now) into squares for the four patches. The other change is that the pattern is actually for the 6" Qube set and I have an 8" Qube set so I am not really going off yardage, I'm just starting with this general idea for a a two block quilt.</div><div><br /></div><div>I have all but four of my flying geese sets complete (at least of what I have cut thus far):</div><div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg3P9CAblLUlnpjc5Ni5hREWQ51PhdJMU5PgeYpovrk9HCxaToUeuj6k9aTgDn1fKAMmyXVkD_J6U3lDPG1iTqthypYc81qJpM0vqeIl9HxTvfGUv4YAm9vKoCxO99Qz9QmaIl3ou8qcEhs/s3456/IMG_20200715_072744125.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3456" data-original-width="3456" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg3P9CAblLUlnpjc5Ni5hREWQ51PhdJMU5PgeYpovrk9HCxaToUeuj6k9aTgDn1fKAMmyXVkD_J6U3lDPG1iTqthypYc81qJpM0vqeIl9HxTvfGUv4YAm9vKoCxO99Qz9QmaIl3ou8qcEhs/w400-h400/IMG_20200715_072744125.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><div><br /></div><div>I've also made quite a few four patches that will become the centers of my star blocks:</div><div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiZ1gC5AMWmwxoV6fEX9Y37hT21pP6RlUM_9n_KcJaVaZ2iQ9X3rGmRV1lHeLhMwsfB1UNm2gt3vn3rKN4jZ15nxdXOwZ6mOjXFUQfNXLdafRrOhoMVCfJM9d68eoxS179-_OMBvQn-uHeD/s3456/IMG_20200715_072513365.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3456" data-original-width="3456" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiZ1gC5AMWmwxoV6fEX9Y37hT21pP6RlUM_9n_KcJaVaZ2iQ9X3rGmRV1lHeLhMwsfB1UNm2gt3vn3rKN4jZ15nxdXOwZ6mOjXFUQfNXLdafRrOhoMVCfJM9d68eoxS179-_OMBvQn-uHeD/w400-h400/IMG_20200715_072513365.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><div><br /></div><div>The four patches will also be part of the secondary block for this quilt, which I have seen called by many names, including a "Frayed Four Patch". To me it's kind of like a mini Irish Chain block or a really small Courthouse Steps block. Some of my small squares will be used for the corners of these blocks so I can't just mindlessly turn all of them into four patches! I also realized that I need to cut some black small squares for the corners of my star blocks, so that will be my next task.</div><div><br /></div><div>Now that I am finally in a better mind for sewing, it figures that I am going back to work on site (part time) starting next week! I still need to decide on my project for this month's Island Batik assignment, but I have a few good ideas! I'll be using the same fabrics that I used for <a href="https://littlebunnyquilts.blogspot.com/2020/05/ultimate-home-decor-blog-hop-winter.html">my May project</a> (I think) to make a wall hanging (I think).</div>Alison V.http://www.blogger.com/profile/01083271975458964740noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-573022001485473640.post-14692494654861858562020-07-03T08:30:00.001-04:002020-07-03T08:30:01.528-04:00Chrysanthemum Quilt {Finished Quilt}I am so excited today to show off my finished Chrysanthemum quilt!<div><br /></div><div>This is my June Island Batik Ambassador project -- I used fabrics from the Primo line by Ebony Love for the piecing and solid white batik for the backing. This month we were given free rein to make whatever our quilters' hearts desired!<div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEibnrxO00G47on3GLnMCl6LVk8U8yd1HVKiByUg1xoI8a0WexGx5ChnCUAuI3ODMvcWvM9CwN63p1ZRpeiydRb8VjpEDUCd5MfZbWzE8jqy1QbIqYg9uLC3NGvz7eSGnExmWBNAQdw8wycC/s960/IB+June.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="960" data-original-width="960" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEibnrxO00G47on3GLnMCl6LVk8U8yd1HVKiByUg1xoI8a0WexGx5ChnCUAuI3ODMvcWvM9CwN63p1ZRpeiydRb8VjpEDUCd5MfZbWzE8jqy1QbIqYg9uLC3NGvz7eSGnExmWBNAQdw8wycC/s320/IB+June.jpg" /></a></div><div><br /></div><div>For my project, I decided to finish a secret sewing project that I had started way back in March! This is the first block that I finished:</div><div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhE9n55FnWyo4UK2_CDEr8X8BiPnz20wGYLi0An3USQ4CeheGpOscSu90p4-IRmyiQONTfGHNMciqw4OxjViF6tY6jK6yrJLu1FynDFUyzDDqEJNuKoEQkPZXjEzB_oCJdCYdG4D74NrWz_/s3456/IMG_20200520_150654383.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3456" data-original-width="3456" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhE9n55FnWyo4UK2_CDEr8X8BiPnz20wGYLi0An3USQ4CeheGpOscSu90p4-IRmyiQONTfGHNMciqw4OxjViF6tY6jK6yrJLu1FynDFUyzDDqEJNuKoEQkPZXjEzB_oCJdCYdG4D74NrWz_/s320/IMG_20200520_150654383.jpg" /></a></div><div><br /></div><div>One of the reasons this started as a secret sewing project is that I originally planned (and maybe still plan?) for this quilt design to be a quilt along project and potentially a mystery quilt along project. With 2020 being the crazy year it has been, I decided to just finish up this quilt and show it off. I still have plans for it to be a QAL but it might just be next year at this point.</div><div><br /></div><div>I wrote the quilt pattern originally in three sizes -- a 9 block version, a 16 block version, and a 25 block version -- and this is the 16 block version. I used Ebony Love's Primo line for Island Batik and used multiple prints for each color of the quilt.</div><div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjtKwjZjUoCcLZYm1xUtWJX7awFwj7jXAhL_Q4Sqobng4TAkByUe0FziXeSnernaTJ-iaVuzZgMeqUWGnbqT0Hl9n4hyphenhyphenqjlHo-0jRVYI97RQG1XCvUDILpfocZgCd5IU_pc28zvxqHg2EHa/s4135/IMG_20200625_135549712_HDR.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3328" data-original-width="4135" height="323" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjtKwjZjUoCcLZYm1xUtWJX7awFwj7jXAhL_Q4Sqobng4TAkByUe0FziXeSnernaTJ-iaVuzZgMeqUWGnbqT0Hl9n4hyphenhyphenqjlHo-0jRVYI97RQG1XCvUDILpfocZgCd5IU_pc28zvxqHg2EHa/w400-h323/IMG_20200625_135549712_HDR.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><div><br /></div><div>This is a large throw and I am currently in the process of quilting it. That *might* not get done before the end of the month tomorrow, so I figured showing off a finished top was a better choice than showing you a quilt that is only 1/3rd of the way quilted. I'll also at some point write a post about how I designed this quilt and tempt you with some alternate colorways in case we do a QAL either later this summer or next spring with this design.</div><div><br /></div><div>But for now -- happy Monday! </div>Alison V.http://www.blogger.com/profile/01083271975458964740noreply@blogger.com7tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-573022001485473640.post-55185799931487592632020-06-26T08:00:00.002-04:002020-08-11T12:12:22.104-04:00Daisy Chain Baby -- Part II {Finished Quilt}I realized this week that I had to get this quilt finished -- and quick -- because little lady is likely to arrive any day! So this week I did got a step or two of finishing done every day until I sewed the last stitch yesterday -- washing and pressing the backing, getting the quilt layered and basted, quilting and trimming, and finally binding!<div><br /></div><div>Here is little lady's quilt!</div><div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjX1KHuI105bMWxzFuRcNpHNZ3iFltDWTW9HJtl7UgSfj3m0X4JyYhKrAdk-Nj03tdWkltyGIWngpR6h41yq1wNz8argOkbqf0VjaIaO9OnEBUaycbX8bDU2LpKXhftXuSt5MFp2-T3IqIQ/s2952/IMG_20200625_141854202_HDR.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2952" data-original-width="2952" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjX1KHuI105bMWxzFuRcNpHNZ3iFltDWTW9HJtl7UgSfj3m0X4JyYhKrAdk-Nj03tdWkltyGIWngpR6h41yq1wNz8argOkbqf0VjaIaO9OnEBUaycbX8bDU2LpKXhftXuSt5MFp2-T3IqIQ/w400-h400/IMG_20200625_141854202_HDR.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><div><br /></div><div>As mentioned previously, this quilt is the Daisy Chain pattern that was our quilt along pattern in 2019 (that will eventually be available as a stand alone pattern) in the baby size with a 2.5" border on all four sides. A once regular blogger who unintentially took four weeks off from blogging? Whoops.<div><br /></div><div>As I may have mentioned, I have been working from home full time since mid-March and will be continuing to do that for about another month. Despite being home all the time (and I do seriously mean all the time) the sewing has gone to a snail's pace with the exception of a few masks here and there and my June Island Batik project. </div><div><br /></div><div>Here's a sneak peak of that project:</div><div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgJcZgcQqAie9BgecvwSHiFDLk2ksJnDsTlzaTBl3BIVZHGzT45WvKe9REOYK58OnOf336nyAgcPKXi9WNc2VRxGQAL83HswNpQ33a9BnBAzrbn5u_tOMV5aXrEaCtUBQ4i2PVwCvyhSVhL/s4608/IMG_20200330_141225167.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4608" data-original-width="3456" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgJcZgcQqAie9BgecvwSHiFDLk2ksJnDsTlzaTBl3BIVZHGzT45WvKe9REOYK58OnOf336nyAgcPKXi9WNc2VRxGQAL83HswNpQ33a9BnBAzrbn5u_tOMV5aXrEaCtUBQ4i2PVwCvyhSVhL/s320/IMG_20200330_141225167.jpg" /></a></div><div><br /></div><div>Normally I am a "posting progress as I go" kind of person, but this time, I am waiting to show off this quilt until the top is complete (hopefully early next week) and show it off all at once because it will be our next quilt along project. Yes! Finally! The last six months have been a wild whirlwind and eventually we'll get started on our QAL for 2020.</div><div><br /></div><div>Speaking of quilt alongs, I am also happy to share that Honey, Bunny, and Doll is once again a sponsor of this year's Meadow Mist Designs mystery quilt along! This year's quilt is called the <a href="https://meadowmistdesigns.blogspot.com/2020/06/morewood-mystery-quilt-sponsors-prizes.html">Morewood Mystery!</a> </div><div><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiWyQMOPGkDvb8oedBO4o_Uj37hlm7M6rzJRvnf1iWedNUHw3nPvEjf1htuXFSlEKnDypdNGzyWbn_4t1CXniq5zk03_QNz4t63OviDul5HagA6YKdtZ3M2acODeITEDH56qWorSgPFJns/w400-h400/Morewood+Mystery+Logo.jpg" /></div><div><br /></div><div>We at Honey, Bunny, and Doll would also like to give our customers a huge thank you for all of the support you've given us in 2020. So far in 2020, our Etsy shop has done over 400 sales thanks to your support, most of which were fabric sales. Normally the bulk of our sales are patterns, but we switched into fabric shop mode to fulfill the call when many of your local quilt shops had to temporarily close for coronavirus safety reasons. Thank you for choosing us!</div><div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgVq7GbDMrLhna4hXWdHJDgN3vyE9YCTqOsvGaBQXulgiF0u_NUve26E7hLvRSPqSyRq9JwFeFqcN3KTPNYw2DoPHnz9YuhtmP22A8b1hUuPB9lX-_vQXoHbmXIF5cCZcDE_chbQY8OP07v/s775/1000+sales.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="319" data-original-width="775" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgVq7GbDMrLhna4hXWdHJDgN3vyE9YCTqOsvGaBQXulgiF0u_NUve26E7hLvRSPqSyRq9JwFeFqcN3KTPNYw2DoPHnz9YuhtmP22A8b1hUuPB9lX-_vQXoHbmXIF5cCZcDE_chbQY8OP07v/s320/1000+sales.png" width="320" /></a></div></div><div><br /></div><div>Continuing in Etsy news, our Etsy shop is currently on "maternity leave"! My sister Amanda (who manages our Etsy and Payhip shops) is expecting a baby very soon so we have put the shop in "vacation mode" until we can ship orders again. If you'd like to know when our Etsy shop reopens, you can <a href="https://www.etsy.com/shop/HoneyBunnyandDoll">sign up to get an email on our Etsy page</a> or <a href="https://www.facebook.com/honeybunnyanddoll/">follow us on Facebook.</a> In the meantime, all of our PDF patterns are still <a href="https://payhip.com/HoneyBunnyandDoll">available in our Payhip shop.</a></div><div><br /></div><div>Hopefully next week, there will be real quilting happening around these parts again! </div>Alison V.http://www.blogger.com/profile/01083271975458964740noreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-573022001485473640.post-3075642852605670402020-05-21T06:00:00.026-04:002020-06-18T09:30:14.257-04:00Ultimate Home Decor Blog Hop {Winter Forest Placemats + Giveaway}Today is my day to share on the Ultimate Home Decor Blog Hop with Island Batik!<br />

<div>
I was actually able to cut enough from my strip sets to make six placemats plus a little extra! Here are the first four placemat tops sewn up and ready to be quilted!</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgUgBaQaVq4rAlrcTSXZ4KNa4yWp6IlOhyb_Qh7Pck21EKDmhiu8LrT7fsdtV5TOp4pWFOpudoMF9Qzg8SQeBfE1ov81aXO6migyox8B3tEGyoizaZp3OdyOoGrbawH47lwOoHZzxr3idWC/" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3344" data-original-width="4072" height="329" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgUgBaQaVq4rAlrcTSXZ4KNa4yWp6IlOhyb_Qh7Pck21EKDmhiu8LrT7fsdtV5TOp4pWFOpudoMF9Qzg8SQeBfE1ov81aXO6migyox8B3tEGyoizaZp3OdyOoGrbawH47lwOoHZzxr3idWC/w400-h329/IMG_20200512_150922653.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
For all of the placemats, I used the same light snowflake print for the backing and the blue bear paw print for the binding. For the quilting I used a light grey Aurifil thread to quilt meanders across each placemat. For the binding, I used the same grey thread in the bobbin, but used a cobalt blue 28 wt. Aurifil thread to do the final binding top-stitching.</div>
