Weekend Sew In.

My husband is currently out of town on business so I have had the whole apartment to myself since Friday and as such I have turned the living room into a semi-permanent sewing studio until he gets back on Wednesday, so I have lots to share this week!

Since Yvonne was nice enough to "hive crash" and make me a pineapple block  so I hive crashed back and made her a block!

She wrote a GREAT tutorial so check it out! I cannot wait to see her finished quilt!

I also started a new project using some of the strips I collected in the 2.5 inch strip swaps I hosted two or three years back. I had quite a few strips that were from Dear Stella's Lanikai line -- but mainly the larger prints. 

I picked a pattern out of Scrap Basket Surprises -- Summer Breeze -- and started to work! I was able to get all of the rail fence blocks completed and started cutting for the pinwheel blocks as well. 

I don't plan to do the outer borders as this pattern instructs since I don't have enough fabric to do so! It will end up 40 x 48 without a border, so I think that's a pretty good baby quilt size!

And of course, Clara was on high alert as official quilt inspector.

A Tiny Snowman and a Curious Bunny

It seems like my scraps are multiplying faster than I can tame them so I decided that in addition to making my calendar wall hangings for in my dining room, I wanted to make tiny versions for my desk at work.

Unsurprisingly, this came together ridiculously quickly and I don't have any in progress pictures. Oops.

The background squares are 2 inches unfinished and the finished size is 9 1/2 by 12 1/2 inches!

The slightly frustrating thing was that it is ever, ever so slightly too big to bind with one width-of-fabric strip! I had to add about 4 inches to get it all the way around the little man.

In the meantime, I've started a tiny February wall hanging and am continuing to work on some more tiny houses (which you might be able to spot in the below pictures). I have been making an utter mess of the dining room and Clara the Bunny has decided that she must inspect everything.

For the first time she got brave and tried to run off with a charm square and in the process nibbled the corner off of it. Cotton is a natural fiber, right?

Wishes Block #7 -- Courthouse Lawn

It's Wishes block time again! This month's block is Courthouse Lawn and it reminds me of a granny square block in some ways.

Not quite as fast to come together as last month's Susannah block, but still simple and fun!

June and July Sew Kitschy Blocks

I don't know what happened to June. I was rather unmotivated to do any sewing (other than keeping up with the QCQAL blocks, of course) so my June Sew Kitschy block was printed out and sat on my sewing table all month. I managed to get both June and July done yesterday, inspired by a Lost mini-marathon.

I think this one is the last one I might do with a fully red background.

I'm very happy with the blend of colors thus far. It's been easy to add in fabrics as I've gone along and I might hold off on putting it all together just yet because I think that I may purchase Kristy's other paper piecing kitchen sets and put together a large wall hanging.

PS. I got a new camera for my birthday (YAY!) but I am still figuring it out and I need to get a camera card for it (dumb thing only holds three pictures without a camera card -- BOO!) so bear with me for the time being, please!
