For my stockings, I used the same instructions with the exception that the pieced and quilted part of my stocking uses slightly larger quarter square triangles made from charm squares rather than half square triangles.
For my fabrics, I used an older set of 5" squares from my stash featuring the older Amanda Murphy line, Nordic Holiday. My background fabric is from her Twinkle line.
Instead of using fusible fleece, I used scrap batting and quilted my stocking front.
I quilted it with meanders and snowflakes. I then used the template to trim my stocking front to size.
For the rest of the fabric of the stocking, I used some scrap flannel that I had on hand.
I used half of another charm square for the hanging loop. Finishing this up was pretty easy -- despite my trepidation about three-dimensional sewing!
My husband has given his stamp of approval and so I have been tasked with making another matching stocking, as well as two mini stockings for our rabbits!
Back in April, I had gotten to a stopping point with my scrappy Jingle Bell Square blocks since I had exhausted my stash of neutral fabrics. Since then, I made and completed my Christmas Churns quilt for Moda Bake Shop using the Little Tree line -- now I have new piles of scraps to work with for this project.
I made a batch of five blocks that used the Little Tree fabrics exclusively, with the exception of the black and cream dot fabric in the bottom row of blocks.
Before I started working on these blocks again this week, I took some time to sort out some of the parts I had already prepared -- some squares and strips cut in the correct sizes as well as some sets of corner QSTs. I also pulled out some of the fabric scraps that are just too small for this project; despite my efforts, the Christmas scraps continue to languish!
The next set of blocks I worked on have a mixture of the newer Little Tree fabrics and my older Christmas scraps.
That brings me to a total of 21 blocks, and now I have just over 40% of my blocks done.
I resisted as long as I was able! My husband bought me Bonnie Hunter's Addicted to Scraps book for my birthday last June, had I had yet to start a project from it. In cleaning and sorting my scraps following our move, I decided that I wanted to make my own version of the Jingle Bell Square quilt from that book.
As the name suggests, the quilt is a scrappy Christmas quilt. I have a number of different Christmas quilts but I don't have one big enough for my bed.
Without going into block construction too much, the quilt requires red blocks and green blocks. I cut some of the parts using my Accuquilt Go! cutter and dies. I decided that I would make small batches of blocks.
In my first batch of blocks, I ended up with five full blocks -- three red and two green -- and some block parts sewn and set aside for future blocks.
Making these blocks is NOT fast. I am a person that prefers to make HSTs and QSTs that I can trim to the correct size so making the smaller size of QSTs for these blocks take a while to make and trim. However, unlike my Double Delight quilt that was last spring's scrap project, it makes more sense to make each block one at a time rather than to make all of the units step by step. Well, I guess it makes sense in my head, since it makes it easier to start and stop on this project.
There are 78 sewing days left until Christmas! Today I've put together a helpful compilation of a bunch of *free* tutorials for Christmas and holiday themed projects! As always, any pattern is a holiday pattern if you use holiday-themed fabric -- let your imagination go wild!

With four little bowtie blocks and a little bit of machine applique, the Bowtie Wreath is a quick and easy add to this fun block collection!
I am so excited to be a part of the latest hop for the Fat Quarter Shop's Shortcut Quilt Series! Jolly Bar Jazz is a fun twin sized quit made from two Jolly Bars and yardage.
Instead of using traditional 40" yardage for my background, I used a grey 108" wide backing fabric in the Basic Grey Hits the Spot pattern for my background. I had a little bit of trouble initially cutting from such a large piece of fabric, but in a little bit had no problem at all! I used the red version of the same fabric for my backing and binding.
I pulled out the lightest prints for my block centers and separated the rest of the fabric for the corner units (Block A) and the side units (block B).
To make Block A, you sew strips to your Jolly Bar and then trim to a 6.5" square.
The rest of the piecing is just straight seams! Isn't the spotted yardage a fun background? This quilt top went together so fast! As for the quilting, I did large curls over the entire quilt.
As mentioned above, I used the backing for the binding.
My finished quilt is full of Christmas cheer!

This has actually been finished for a few days, but we've been traveling and celebrating and all that good Christmas-y stuff, so I'm finally getting a chance to post this finish!
Since I was in a major hurry to get this out (this sweet babe was born at the beginning of November!) I only have a front and back picture to show this time around.
I quilted this one with meandering swirls and bound it with the leftover backing fabric!

It was so much fun to make, I might have to find other people to make tree skirts for.
And I did all the machine quilting myself!! While its not that impressive because its all straight line quilting, I am at least getting some practice with machine quilting.
