Twinkle Pattern -- Now Available! {HBD Pattern Premiere + Giveaway}

I'm so excited to share that our Twinkle pattern is now (finally!) available! A twist on the classic friendship star block, Twinkle uses a nested star design to create a modern star quilt.

I had originally made this quilt last winter for our Island Batik Ambassador hop. This uses the Mountain's Majesty line.

While working on finalizing this pattern, I also made a baby size version of the quilt that is also included in the pattern. I used the Paisley Dot collection for this quilt.

This pattern is now available on Etsy and PayHip!! The pattern includes the directions for three sizes. The baby size version which finishes at 42" x 36" and the throw size version which finishes at 72" x 54". The pattern also includes a twin sized option which adds two borders to the throw size quilt; the twin version will finish at 88" x 70". Here's the twin-sized diagram:

This sparkling quilt pattern is deceptively simple and is perfect for layer cakes and fat quarter bundles. You can actually make all of the blocks for the twin or throw size version from a single layer cake and background fabric!

In celebration of today's pattern premiere, I'll be giving away the last sixteen 10" squares from my Paisley Dot stacker, which I used to make the baby size version of this quilt.

Two entry options:
1. For everyone -- leave a comment with what fabric line or colors you would use to make your own version of Twinkle.
2. If you've made a version of *any* Honey, Bunny, and Doll pattern or quilt along, send me an email (littlebunnyquilts@gmail.com) with a photo of your project for a second entry.

The giveaway will close on Friday, October 19th!

Update: Scottylover aka Sandy is our winner!

I can't wait to see your version of this fun and easy pattern! Share your pictures on Instagram with the hashtags #HBDpatterns and #TwinkleQuilt! Join the Honey, Bunny, and Doll Facebook Group to be a part of the inner circle to know about pattern premieres and quilt alongs first!

Little Twinkle {Finished Quilt}

The best thing about making baby quilts is that I'm not (usually) tempted to keep them! The worst part is that for every one that I make, I get ideas for at least two more swirling around in my head.

This quilt is a smaller version of my Twinkle quilt which is a throw size quilt that I made earlier this year. Here's the baby quilt top before I quilted it:

For the quilting, I did a swirly flower filler in white Aurifil thread. The flannel backing is a similar teal to the teals used in the top of the quilt.

For the binding, I used this very fun checkerboard batik that came in my second Island Batik Ambassador goody box. I got this print in three colors (pink, purple, and teal) and I am excited to use it again soon because of how neat this binding turned out. I think it could be even cooler as bias binding.

Hopefully this quilt will be loved and snuggled for a long time!

This pattern is now available on Etsy and PayHip!!

Little Twinkle {Starstruck Quilt}

Our September Island Batik Ambassador theme is *Starstruck*! Quilters love star quilts!

For this project, I decided to work on a baby sized version of my Twinkle quilt using the layer cake of Paisley Dot that came in my most recent Island Batik Ambassador box. As an Island Batik Ambassador, I am provided with samples of various lines of Island Batik fabrics to use and share with you!

Now is a perfect time to remake this pattern -- This pattern is now available on Etsy and PayHip!! As a refresher, here's my original Twinkle quilt, made with the Mountain Majesty collection from Island Batik:

I pulled pink and teal fabrics from the layer cake above to make nine Twinkle star blocks for a baby quilt.

Nine blocks and a few spacers sewn together and the quilt top is done! This setting with spacers gives a quilt that is 42" x 36".

I will need to make a quick trip to grab some flannel for the back of this baby quilt. But in the meantime, let's do another giveaway of some great Island Batik goodies!

I still have 2/3rds of my Paisley Dot 10" stacker, so I will be giving away a dozen 10" squares (which comes out to just under a yard of fabric) in the color scheme of your choosing! I've used the pink and the teal squares, but there are still plenty of beautiful colors of 10" squares!

To enter, just tell me which colors you would pick -- or just tell me your favorite colors and I'll put together a great combo for you! My suggestion would be either the primary colors or the cool colors! Giveaway will close on Tuesday morning!

The giveaway is now closed and our winner is Carol! Good luck with your baby quilt!

Twinkle Quilt featuring Mountain's Majesty {Four Seasons Blog Hop with Island Batik}

Yesterday was the kick-off of Island Batik's Four Seasons Blog Hop and today is my day to share a wintry themed quilt with you featuring the new line, Mountain's Majesty!

Mountain's Majesty is actually composed of multiple colorways, my project uses the fabrics and colors on the top half of the image below.

I received both navy and light blue large cuts with my fat quarter bundle, and decided to use the navy as my background because it reminds me of the dark starry skies in the wintertime! So off I went to create some star blocks to bespeckle my navy sky!

I actually designed this Nested Friendship Star block (modified slightly for this version) back in 2014 and have since then wanted to put together a full quilt with this block. This fabric bundle was perfect to do just that!

Say hello to "Twinkle"! This pattern is now available on Etsy and PayHip!!

I used 20 different fabrics in the quilt top (16 different fabrics for the large stars, 3 fabrics for the small stars, and the background fabric) in addition to the light blue print for the binding. Because I'm selfish and love this quilt and plan to keep it for myself, I backed it in teal flannel so it is EXTRA snuggly. I'm already working on a pattern for this quilt so keep your eyes peeled.

For the quilting, I did a large, all over meander to keep it soft and cuddly. The binding is a light blue print with trees and I machine bound it. I was really hoping that I would be able to take pictures of this quilt in the snow, but instead it was just bitterly cold.

Itching to win some of this fabric for yourself? I cut all of my extra fabric into charm squares and ended up with enough to send 60+ 5" squares to not one, but TWO lucky readers!

Leave comments to win, lots of options, choose one or choose all! I will leave the comments open until Monday, January 15th at midnight.

1. Leave a comment with your favorite new fabric line from the Fall 2017 IB Collection (shipping now!) or the Winter 2017/2018 IB Collection (shipping in April!).
2. If you follow Island Batik on social media (blog, Instagram, Facebook, etc.) leave a comment and tell me how you follow.
3. If you follow Little Bunny Quilts or Honey, Bunny, and Doll Quilts (Bloglovin', Instagram/Instagram, Facebook) leave a comment and tell me how you follow.
