Wishes Block #9 -- Dove in the Window and Sew Kitschy Block #9 - Betty's Kitchen

Happy Wednesday, everybody! I'm on a major roll with posts this week! Hooray!

Today I'm sharing my September BOM blocks for the Fat Quarter Shop Wishes QAL and Quiet Play's Sew Kitschy QAL.

This month's block for the Wishes QAL is called Dove in the Window! Working on this quilt always makes me so happy because of the bright colors.

This month is the LAST month for this year's Sew Kitschy QAL and I am so sad! I am probably going to have to buy the Sew Retro and Sew Retro 2 Bundles now. Knowing me, if and when I do that, I'll binge paper piece them in one sitting!

The last block is Betty in her kitchen!

Silly me didn't get a picture of all 9 of my Sew Kitschy blocks together yet! I'll hopefully have that posted soon.

Have a lovely September day!

August Sew Kitschy Block and August Sew Pieceful Blocks

Happy Sunday! I've been sort of radio silent this week due to family stuff, a job interview (!!!), and some sort of the cold/flu relegating me to the couch for the last two days but now I'm finally feeling a little better to start getting caught up posting on my projects.

Quiet Play

This month for my Sew Pieceful Bee blocks, I used the Wampum Block pattern from the Quilter's Cache.

I think this is the last month for my peach, mint, and lavender color scheme. I am pretty sure that I have enough blocks. A few are nothing like the colors I requested (so disappointing!) but I think I will use them in a different quilt. I'm thinking about making a "bright pastel" quilt with the ones that don't quite fit into the peach, mint, and lavender scheme and using lots of different colors. Once I get my blocks this month, I'll post a picture of all of my received blocks.

Have a lovely day!

June and July Sew Kitschy Blocks

I don't know what happened to June. I was rather unmotivated to do any sewing (other than keeping up with the QCQAL blocks, of course) so my June Sew Kitschy block was printed out and sat on my sewing table all month. I managed to get both June and July done yesterday, inspired by a Lost mini-marathon.

Here's my June pitcher and glasses:

I think this one is the last one I might do with a fully red background.

Here's July's radio:

I wish that I had more of that background fabric!

Here's all seven of my finished blocks all together:

I'm very happy with the blend of colors thus far. It's been easy to add in fabrics as I've gone along and I might hold off on putting it all together just yet because I think that I may purchase Kristy's other paper piecing kitchen sets and put together a large wall hanging.

Happy fourth of July! Miss Clara Belle wishes you a happy Independence Day!

PS. I got a new camera for my birthday (YAY!) but I am still figuring it out and I need to get a camera card for it (dumb thing only holds three pictures without a camera card -- BOO!) so bear with me for the time being, please!

May Sew Kitschy Block

It's the beginning of the month, so let's begin the deluge of BOM blocks!

This month's Sew Kitschy Block is a mixer!!

My stand mixer is NOT as cool as this paper pieced one -- it is matte grey.

Go here to check out the May Sew Kitschy Block Party at Quiet Play!

Happy Friday to you! I hope you spend your weekends indulging in something delightful -- especially quilting!

March Sew Kitchsy Block

This month's Sew Kitschy block from Quiet Play is a mixing bowl  and wooden spoon. Since I had already used a blue background for January, and a red background for February, I decided to use yellow for March!

Doesn't that blue on white print remind you of vintage Pyrex?!?! I had forgotten I had a half yard of this fabric in my stash and was delighted to rediscover it because it was perfect for this block!

Sharing over at Quiet Play in the March Block Link-up and the Paper Piecing Friday link-up!

Sew Kitchsy February Block

February's block for the Sew Kitschy Sew Along with Kristy at Quiet Play is a cookie jar!

I had about a fat quarter left of the navy blue polka dot fabric from the churn dash baby quilt so I decided to use that for the jar portion and to go a little wild and use red paisley for the background.

What I would like to do is either a) find someone with an embroidery machine that can stitch "cookies" in yellow on the jar or b) machine applique on a yellow cut out of "cookies" onto it.

Sharing my block in the monthly link up! Still lots of time to join in!

Sew Kitschy January Block

I decided to join in and do the Sew Kitschy Sew Along with Kristy at Quiet Play. It's a paper pieced block of the month that is kitchen themed! It will make a lovely wall hanging for my dream kitchen someday.

Quiet Play

This month's block is the oven mitt block -- available for free for a limited time on Craftsy! (You can also purchase all of the blocks in one shot if you so desire -- but this girl likes FREE!)

I decided that my color scheme was going to be primary colors, rather than red and aqua. It's a little bit more my style -- and let's face it -- I have a lot of scraps in those colors currently! Here's my finished oven mitt block!

I pieced the thumb a little differently so that I could eliminate one of the pieces, but I don't think you can tell that in this picture.

Linking up with everyone else participating in Sew Kitschy this month!!
