Tanzanites, at least those that are most valuable, are indigo in color. I pulled some blue-hued purples and some navy blues for this block.
Now I have nine of my twelve birthstone blocks done.
The three remaining blocks are my January garnet, my July ruby, and my October opal. I will likely try to work on my two red blocks first -- garnet will be a dark true red block and the ruby will be a pinky red block. In my mind, I would like to make my opal entirely from pastel shades of Fairy Frost, but I think that the most of my Fairy Frost scraps have been depleted.
For those interested, this pattern is from No Hats in the House.
Happy Monday to you! I have spent most of my weekend doing the quilting for my upcoming Moda Bake Shop project that will be published in about two weeks!

I love these blocks. What are you planning to turn them into?
ReplyDeleteE xx
The grouping looks great! Sapphire and Tanzanite really speak to me (sapphire is my birth stone) and I think that the reds are really going to be a stunning addition to the group.
ReplyDeleteWOW! They are so fabulous! I can't wait to see what you do with them! I really love that Tanzanite one, just gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteThese are gorgeous, Alison! What a beautiful grouping these make and worth a million (or two)! The tanzanite really speaks to me. Would you mind sharing what paper piecing pattern you use? Thank you.

ReplyDeleteHi Alison,
ReplyDeleteWOW - these really do look like gems. I can't wait to see the garnet, ruby and opal - my birth month. It wonder what these blocks will become when they are finished? I will have to stay tuned and see. ~smile~ Roseanne
Beautiful, I'm guessing they are paper pieced. Is there a pattern? 24Tangent@gmail.com
ReplyDeleteMagical.
ReplyDeleteIs there a pattern available for these "jewels"???? Please advise.
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately the pattern is no longer available. It was originally from No Hats In The House, but it is no longer listed on her website.
DeleteDarn it. I sent her an email too and posted it on Facebook for anyone who can help.
DeleteThis is the page from which you can buy the pattern. I just finished it and it is a blast!! https://nohatsinthehouse.bigcartel.com/product/shinebright-birthstone-round-cut-no-2-digital
DeleteSo pretty!! I bet a jeweler would love to hang a quilt like this in a store!
ReplyDeleteYour birthstone blocks are really lovely......I could help you with the Fairy Frosts if I know where to send them.....D.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely beautiful Alison!
ReplyDeleteI am so in love with this/these blocks. Could you please direct me to the pattern??? I would be most appreciative.
ReplyDeleteHi Carol -- you asked this same question a few months back and it is answered above -- the pattern is no longer available but the original designer is No Hats In The House.
DeleteYou can't blame me for trying. I wonder if I could graph it? Never done that but what do I have to loose. LOL
