Brutal Honesty {June 2019}

June is here! The Daisy Chain quilt along is nearing its end! Our link up party started on Monday, and we hope that you join us and check out all of the lovely quilt tops (and finished quilts!) people have made.

And now, for the very disappointing WIP update:

Sent out for quilting, return date TBD:
1. Double Delight -- May UFO project - approximately twin size
2. Good Fortune Mystery Quilt -- small throw size
3. April Showers C2C Bee Quilt -- January UFO project -- queen size

Completed tops:
4. Magnolia Mystery QAL -- no progress
5. Breezy Blooms C2C Bee -- no progress
6. Radiant Jewel Quilt -- April UFO project - no progress

Tops partially finished:
7. Romantic Garden Quilt -- no progress
8. Monthly Wall Hangings -- March UFO project -- no progress
9. Pineapple Stash Bee Blocks -- February UFO project -- no progress

Just blocks and units:
10. Sew Kitschy Blocks -- no progress
11. Cubicle Quilts -- no progress
12. Happy Houses blocks -- no progress
13. Birthstone blocks -- June UFO project - no progress
14. Jingle Bell Square -- I've been working on some more blocks using the leftovers from my Christmas Churns quilt! I'm hoping to get a few more blocks done before I do another update post.

Yep, no progress. Lots of no progress.

Quilt alongs and long term projects:
15. Monthly Island Batik Ambassador projects -- In May, I made a partial version of Cheryl and Paige's Modern Plus Sampler quilt pattern. June's theme is trying new techniques and my plan is to make a Dresden plate mini quilt!

16. Daisy Chain Mystery Quilt -- The mystery is solved! One of my versions of the pattern was finished (and gifted!) long ago, but my second version is still in progress.

17. Coast to Coast Bee 2019 -- I worked on Karen's quilt in April and May, and now have been working on Audrey's quilt.

New Projects/Secret Sewing:
18. FQS Hop Quilt: This hop is scheduled for the end of this month! I am hard at work making lots of blocks and will be posting previews on Instagram.

My UFO for May was to try to catch up on some of the previous months' UFOs that didn't get much progress. That...was kind of a failure.

My UFO for June will be my Birthstone blocks. This is the oldest UFO on my WIP list (but technically isn't my oldest UFO, but we aren't going to get into that) and I have three more blocks to make for this project. Here are the nine blocks I have finished:

I still need to make the garnet, ruby, and opal. The garnet and ruby are obviously different shades of red -- with the garnet being darker and the ruby having more pinks. For the opal, I'm planning to do white interspersed with pastels, something in between the grey/white diamond and the pink/purple alexandrite.

  1. Oooh, I'm so happy to see that the birthstone blocks are coming out to play. I've loved them from the first time I saw them. It will be nice to see them finished.
