Stash Sorting {Frolic Mystery Quilt}

This weekend, after putting the binding on my blog hop quilts for tomorrow, I started pulling fabrics for the upcoming mystery quilt hosted by Bonnie Hunter -- FROLIC!

This year's colors for the mystery quilt are inspired by fields of flowers and I have modified my color scheme slightly to better fit my scraps.

Here's the suggested colors and my replacements:

Dark blue --- Navy tone on tone scraps
Medium blue --- Dark teal scraps
Raspberry --- Coral yardage
Light aqua --- Light aqua scraps
Neutrals --- White on white print yardage (not pictured)
Green --- Golden yellow scraps

For the first two mystery quilts that I did, Good Fortune and On Ringo Lake, I made half as many units for each step and made throw sized quilts, smaller than the original pattern. I should have enough fabrics this time around to make the entire as-written quilt pattern, but I might start off making 3/4 of the units just to make sure I have enough of the dark blue fabrics.

But those are all decisions for another day! Tomorrow is my day on the Fall Island Batik blog hop! Come back to see *TWO* great quilts and *TWO* super giveaways!

  4. Good for you for finishing the mystery quilts, no matter what size you make! I am still on step 1 for Good Fortune...don't think that one is going to happen. I may have to take those fabrics and apply them to Frolic!

  7. We just had someone come into the quilt store where I work today to purchase a few extra fabrics for Bonnie's mystery, then I find it on your blog too! Love that your are doing it because I'd love to follow along with you. Her quilts are so beautiful and I'm sure yours will be too! I have to smile though at the thought of running our of fabric. That's wouldn't happen in my stash no matter what the color. 😄 Thanks for linking to Wednesday Wait Loss.

  8. Beautiful color palette for Frolic. I'm starting with 1/2 of the units this year. If I like it, I have enough yardage to make the whole quilt.
