My summer plan is to finish a couple WIPs and start a couple new projects too.
ReplyDeleteFinishing up WIP's is my summer goal this year.
ReplyDeleteWhat an awesome block! thank you!
ReplyDeleteGreat block! The blue is an awesome color, especially against black. I want to stay on track this summer, with quilty365, rsc16, and finish a couple UFO's!
ReplyDeleteI have a few WIP I would love to finish. But I also have a list of other projects I would love to start!
ReplyDeleteSummer plans include moving into my quilting studio space. I am sure I will find several projects to complete. I always seem to have a couple to work on (and a few more dancing in my head). maryc76904 at yahoo dot com
ReplyDeleteour guild biennial quilt show is in September so I have to finish a couple of entries for that-- one is a Christmas BOM applique and one is a small feathered star that I made in a workshop. I'm on the show committee so I have to help with those duties as well. I am totally in love with your block!
ReplyDeleteI'll be doing both - working on some small handwork WIPS in the evening and playing with something NEW (always exciting) at my machine during the day. Both are rewarding to play with!
ReplyDeleteHi Alison!!! I am working away on Christmas in July projects and trying to tame the wild UFO pile of tricks this summer. Thanks for the chance! Allison (with two Ls...the flow cyto fairy)
ReplyDeleteAll WIPs are lined up, in the order I want to do them!
ReplyDeleteI want to quilt a Christmas quilt I made a few years ago.
ReplyDeleteWIPs for me, want to knock them off so I can move onto new projects. I don't want a pile of WIPs, I want finished/usable. 24Tangent@gmail.com
ReplyDeleteSummer sewing is always about sharing the machines with the granddaughters. It is great! I really like the block - a dignified goose!
ReplyDeleteI am currently using up my best of morris fabrics making a lap size quilt called "little trips" - it is very labor intensive - just when I see daylight I start on the next step and get mired down again....it will be worth it in the end though.....then I plan to take a summer break from sewing.
ReplyDeleteI really want to finish the hand quilting and binding on the quilt for our master bedroom!!!
ReplyDeleteThat is a fun variation on the Dutchman's puzzle. I love seeing traditional blocks with a bit of a twist. I think my summer sewing will consist mostly of finishing up old wips. I'm determined to make a dent in my pile!
ReplyDeleteI need to do the machine quilting on a bed quilt for my oldest grandson. I have severeal garment projects waiting and another quilt project I'm eager to start. It will be a fun summer!
ReplyDeleteVery pretty!
ReplyDeletei have been trying to finish up a quilt for a month now but I've started and finished 2 quilt tops and quilted a whole cloth baby quilt. So I'm beginning to think I'm putting it off for a reason, maybe because I know it really needs to get finished and I don't want to mess it up. This summer i plan to finish and quilt 3 quilts.
ReplyDeleteI have a jelly roll quilt basted and ready to be quilted, I plan to get it finished.
ReplyDeletejen dot barnard at btinternet dot com
I have prepared some stitcheries for small projects which i can carry everywhere, lol! And I have some quilts to quilt!
ReplyDeleteLovely!
ReplyDeleteThis summer I will probably work mostly with my never ending WIP pile, even though I will get tempted to start new projecs.
This summer I will try to finish my 5 WIP's first, but we will see if I get a new itch and fall off the finishing wagon. Love your block and it is so tempting. Thanks for the opportunity. bettyharden at charter dot net, just to be sure I am reachable, just in case.
ReplyDeleteAll of my WIP's will keep each other company this summer while I start new projects. But to be fair these new projects are for special events and special people. :)

love your block. this summer i will be outside most of the time. but i plan on finishing some Christmas gifts I started and making us some summer and fall place mats
ReplyDeletequilting dash lady at comcast dot net
Summer is when I like to make a lot of the quilts and gifts that I will give at Christmas, so they will be new projects.
ReplyDeleteDuring the summer I like to travel to different quilt shops looking for new material for my stash.
ReplyDeleteI am finishing up three (yes, three!) baby quilts that need to be done by next Saturday. (Yikes!) After that, I want to work on a project for a blog hop in June. After that, I plan to finish two quilt kit that I picked up from Quilts for Kids. After that... who knows, but I promised myself that I would learn at least one new technique this year! So it is going to be a busy sewing summer!
ReplyDeleteI signed up for my first mystery quilt sew-a-long for this summer and I have a wedding quilt to finish. Love your block and the fabrics.
ReplyDeleteI have quite a few WIP to finish up; plus, I want to recover my kitchen chairs.
ReplyDeleteThis summer I hope to decide what I will be making for holiday giving and get an early start.
ReplyDeleteI have just found out I am pregnant so a baby quilt is in my summer plans x
ReplyDeleteIain.ross30 at gmail dot com
Thanks for the giveaway! Right now I'm finished up a graduation quilt and then I hope to get to quilting two or three UFOs for gifts later this year.
ReplyDeleteThat is a great quilt block Alison! Saving this page, as I'll be following you on bloglovin' I see you follow some of my friends: Vicki, Cheryl at MMD, Twiggy and Opal, to name a few! Thanks for the givewaway!
ReplyDeleteLove your twist on the classic Dutchman's Puzzle block! I don't have any WIP's because I finish a project before I start a new one. There are a few baby quilts I need to make, so that's what I'll be working on.
ReplyDeleteThis summer I would like to try and finish a couple of UFOs that I have sitting around.
ReplyDeleteI will be working on my WIP pile. I also take a monthly table runner class, so will be working on those also. And, nothing to do with quilting, but will be driving around the back roads of Wisconsin in our 1960 MGA that my husband restored.
ReplyDeletemaking quilts like always
ReplyDeleteTackling my WIP pile is my mantra this year. So far it seems to be winning. There's a couple special quilts I'd like to finish this summer--Wedding quilts for two of my siblings--one got married last December, the other 2 years ago in November. Would be nice to have them done.
ReplyDeleteWill bind a quilt that just got finished quilting, have one fourth of a quilt made using up some fabric in my stash. Also have more in process projects that I hope to get to. Always busy.
ReplyDeleteI am working on a football quilt for my favorite football fan.
ReplyDeleteAs soon as I finish the two graduation quilts I am working on (both will be done by June 12), I will be heading to Minnesota--three trips in three months! I don't think I will get to work on much of anything. I think the best plan will be to pull out the scraps, leave them on the cutting board, and rotary cut into usable squares when I have a bit of time here and there!
ReplyDeleteThank you for the detailed tutorial. I like the dark background you incorporated into your block. I am working on a Storm at Sea quilt. I also have to finish up around 5 WIPs. Thank you for the inspiration, and the giveaway.
ReplyDeleteI think I will do a little bit of both, whatever time allows. Because I will be busy on some days taking care of my grandbaby. So maybe I can work in a WIP during nap times, and get something new started on days off!
ReplyDeletekakingsbury at verizon dot net
Love your twist on Dutchman's Puzzle. I have a couple of designs that have been accepted for a magazine and need to get the quilts made and the directions written! Then maybe catch up on some of my UFOs.
ReplyDeleteI'll be sewing sewing sewing all summer because my husband is not well and I need to be here to help him.
ReplyDeleteI am looking forward to finishing several of the projects I have on the go. I love the opportunity to have a couple of days of uninterrupted work to complete something
ReplyDeleteI don't quilt as much during the summer due to gardening and lack of air conditioning in my studio, but I have lots of in progress things to work on when time is available.
ReplyDeleteI just got my own sewing room!!! Yeah, so I will be finishing up some WIP and starting new also. :)
ReplyDeletecraftyccain@gmail.com
This year is quilting two of my tops but would be great make a bit of both.
ReplyDeleteI have signed up for the Summer Sampler, so will be starting that in June. I also have some WIP to finish.
ReplyDeleteI'm just home sewing a few baby quilts... happyness04431@yahoo.com

ReplyDeleteI will be making new quilts and other gifts for charity all summer long.
ReplyDeleteThanks,
Peggy

I will be finishing WIP and making a baby quilt and a quilt for a really good friend. Thanks for the beautiful giveaway.
ReplyDeleteHi Alison! Aruban puzzle is gorgeous! And the batiks are perfect for it. It's exciting and exotic. I am going to try a Susan Carlson style art quilt this summer. I've drawn an elephant and I've got lots of scraps that I want to incorporate into it. Thanks so much for sharing your beautiful work, and thanks for this great giveaway!
ReplyDeleteI will be finishing up 2 WIP or UFOs and then starting a quilt for our new motorhome.
ReplyDeleteThis summer I hope to finish my son's quilt. It's been sitting too long. cknapp3626(at)sbcglobal(dot)net
ReplyDeleteI am working on several WIP's. As soon as I have one more finished I am allowed to start a new project (I am being very strict about this lol). I love working with batiks and have a small stash. More would be better!
ReplyDeleteI need to make a summer weight bedcovering for my bed. I've never made a quilt, only single quilt blocks, so I'm contemplating making a simple, lightweight pieced bedspread. A little scared about working with that much fabric at once :).
ReplyDelete3dears (at) gmail (dot) com
I'm working my way thru a bunch of WIPs so I won't feel so guilty if I buy any new fabric, patterns, or tools. Great looking block!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the great tutorial. I'll be working on my sisters' block exchange this summer. And I'm a follower of Sew in Love with Fabric.
ReplyDeleteI'm working on a queen size quilt for my grown daughter. A couple of friends and I are meeting once a month to work on a Judy Niemeyer quilt called Glacier Pines. I think it's going to be quite challenging! Thanks for the giveaway. I love batiks. :)
ReplyDeleteI am finishing up some UFOs, or WIPs, depending on how you want to look at it. Getting tired of their loud nagging!
ReplyDeleteLove your lil Mini..& thanks for the Tutorial!! :) My summer quilting?sewing plan is definitely to work on my UFO's piles! lol But also make some outfits for the Grangirlie, and I'm teaching her to sew......
ReplyDeleteThank you for chance to win your Give-a-way! :D
The block is wonderful. I love this fabric.
ReplyDeleteWhat a neat block. Thanks for the tutorial. My summer plans include a few new projects, but mainly finishing WIPs..
ReplyDeleteBatiks are so much fun to sew with, aren't they? I don't sew as much in the summer mostly because my sewing room gets very warm during the day. But I do plan on making a lap quilt for my BF's mom who has Alzheimer's. She is such a special lady and I'd like her to have something in her favorite colors that she enjoys.
ReplyDeleteThe Hoffman Challenge deadline is coming up, and I had better get started soon or it will just be more fabrics in the stash. Come on Inspiration! Interesting twist on the Dutchman's Puzzle.
ReplyDeleteMy summer plan is to finish a baby quilt for a cousin and make another baby quilt for a good friend.
ReplyDeleteI plan to finish some custom orders, work on challenge pieces and finish some UFOs. I'll probably start some new UFOs, too, lol Great block! Thanks.
ReplyDeleteI'm planning on making progress with some WIP's...and making a mini quilt with some Cathedral Windows blocks.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your tutorial, cool block! I have plans to work on UFOs this summer as well as I'm taking a class the end of this month on Hawaiian applique.
ReplyDeleteThanks for a chance to win.
usairdoll(at)gmail(dot)com
I am going to do both. I want to finish a flannel quilt that I am working on and start on some Christmas quilting. Thanks!
ReplyDeletePlease click on the delaineelliott above for my email link.
I have a quilt I started 3 years ago and would like to finish it. I also would like to start on Christmas presents for family.
ReplyDeleteHaving had knee surgery recently, my summer sewing plans include getting back in my sewing room (Hooray!), where I will be working on several UFOs. lynnstck(at)yahoo.com
ReplyDeleteI plan to finish a hand quilting project and then I have three new ideas to start. I never get completely finished!!
ReplyDeleteI'm frantically trying to finish a quilt for my daughter's wedding, July 9th. Less than two months, yikes!! Then it's on to lots of WIPs and a challenge mini for my guild. Love your block!
ReplyDeletecathylouwilson@gmail.com

ReplyDeletektreve (at) hotmail (dot) com
I have a couple of quilts to finish and then I can start new ones. I really would like to do some sewing outside, so I can enjoy summer and sew.

Love the idea of the black on the back of the flying geese tytyty for the ideas love blog hops..... happyness04431@yahoo.com
ReplyDeleteI plan to tackle the stack of unfinished business in my sewing room this summer. In between basting and quilting the gazillion tops, I will allow myself to make and complete mini quilts. Your block will make a great project.
ReplyDeleteI began a hexagon quilt using the EP technique, and found that handwork is easy to do on warm evenings (or cold!) while watching TV. I love how you can design so many patterns using hexies!
ReplyDeleteI am always at a new project...I piece and hand quilt on a daily basis...thanks for this chance
ReplyDeleteWhat I plan to do this summer is to combine a guild group event/program along with my "fabric exchange" stash. I have been in charge of my guild's jelly roll/charm squares fabric exchanges for several years, and I have been asked multiple times, "what can be made from these strips/squares". So my goal is to show the members some examples.
ReplyDeleteI have a completed bed quilt ready to put on my longarm; a bed quilt for my new guest room that is all neatly packaged in a bin ready to start and some very fun hexie blocks to play with in between! pjrquilter(at)msn(dot(com)
ReplyDeleteThis summer I'm going to keep going on my monthly groups - and maybe finish binding for some quilts and/or make some pillows. It will be hot in my new sewing room, so hope the fan won't be blowing the fabric around too much! Thanks for the chance!
ReplyDeleteAs summer approaches, I feel the need to make a Christmas Quilt for each grandchild. I had promised myself that I would get those flimsies quilted first, but I am weakening. Thanks for the chance to win such beautiful fabric.
ReplyDeleteI have a few projects planned, but I am working on my WIP pile right now. If I can get the one big one finished before summer ends, I will start a flannel quilt.
ReplyDeleteThis summer I hope to complete my son's quilt. cknapp3626(at)sbcglobal(dot)net
ReplyDeleteI have a long list of UFO's to complete, but am sure that I will start new things too. Thanks for sharing. Your block is cute!! Diane O
ReplyDeleteVery cool block. I'm doing both, working on WIPs/UFOs and starting new projects. I'm hoping to balance out the new projects by completing a few old ones. My project list won't get any shorter, but at least the list won't get any bigger (well fingers crossed on that point).
ReplyDeleteI'm hoping to dig into UFOs, though I'm sure I'll start new things, as is my habit.
ReplyDelete
