NuBees Quilt Top

While my mom was here two weeks ago, we drug out and looked at a bunch of my projects and she helped me lay out all of my blocks from my NuBees swap that I did over the summer and fall.

I finished sewing the blocks in rows while she was here and finished sewing the rows together last night.

Here is the top all sewn together:

The blocks are all 12.5" blocks and the sashings are 2.5" strips cut from a huge chunk of Zipang fabric that I got on sale a year ago at Christmastime that was the inspiration for these blocks.

I decided to also do a pieced back for this one out of the rest of the sashing fabric and a number of other small cuts of fabric in my stash. This pieced back is much simpler than the one I made previously, but it's such a good feeling to not have to purchase additional fabric to finish this one!

If you can't tell the back is NOT squared up right now. I didn't figure it made a difference until after it was quilted, anyways.

Also, I'm all set up for anyone to follow me on BlogLovin' now! There's a button on the sidebar and if you're still in Google Reader, apparently its really easy to transfer from one to the other. I always just use Blogger so I'm not super affected by the demise of Google Reader.

Have a Hoppy Easter weekend all!

Fat Quarter Swap at KoolBeenz

Happy Friday all!

Hoping to soon post some pictures of my NuBees quilt that I'm finally putting the top together after months and months of it sitting in its box.

But FIRST!

I just signed up for the Fat Quarter Friends Swap for April at KoolBeenz.

Its a month by month swap, so you only sign up for the months you want to participate! You get one partner per month and send four fat quarters either from your stash or bought new. I am probably going to swap mostly things from my stash, but I am excited to refresh my stash!

Sign up here!

Finished New York Beauty

This one is a bit of a bonus finish!

My mom had planned to come out this weekend and we were going to go to the quilt show in Lancaster, but then I got engaged and this weekend became "wedding dress shopping weekend." (We succeeded, FYI. Smiles all around.)

She brought me my quilted New York Beauty Quilt and I LOVE the clam shell pantograph on it. It really picks up on all of the arcs in the design.

And here are some binding in process pictures...

And here is the finished lovely!

Feels pretty good to get this one crossed off the WIP list!

March Stash Bee Blocks

This month our Hive #4 Mama is Kelsey from Kelsey Sews and she chose this fun block in festive Fourth of July colors! I definitely had the necessary colors in my stash for this one (I even have a star print in red and white!) so that made things a lot easier!

This one was SO quick and easy to put together and I can't wait to see it all put together!

Happy weekend to you!

In Process

After a busy last week and a half between work and wedding planning (we have a date!!) I finally got the motivation to finish up my Cartwheels baby quilt.

It also helps that Park Ranger Fiance is going to see the parents of the "new person" next weekend.

I bought some butter yellow snuggly flannel for the backing and binding. I love flannel backed quilts!

For some reason, I had a lot of trouble with the top scootching all over while I was machine stitching the binding on. Seam ripping binding off is NOT a fun process!

Here is the little ray of sunshine:

Happy weekend to you!

March Lovely Finishes Goal

It's March already?!?

My Lovely Year of Finishes goal for March is to finish my Cartwheels baby quilt.

The baby girl that this quilt is for is due in May, so I need to back, quilt (or tie) and bind this little beauty.
